The ocean liner operated by the Cunard Line was named after the Queen consort to England’s King George V. She commenced transatlantic passenger service in 2004. The ship has broken a number of records and still holds most of them.
The RMS Queen Mary 2, or QM2, was built in France. She measures 345 m (1,132 ft) in length and 41 m (134.5 ft) in width, with a mast height of 72 m (236.2 ft). She weighs 150 thousand tonnes, with a displacement of 76 thousand tonnes and has a draft of 10 meters (32.81 feet).
The ship is powered primarily by four diesel engines, with two additional gas turbines, which provide a power output of 157 thousand hp in total. There are four podded propulsion units, the forward pair are fixed, but the aft pair can rotate.

The ship’s maximum speed is more than 30 knots or 55 km/h (34 mph). The QM2 can carry 2,620 passengers on average, with a crew of 1,253.
The structure of the ship is divided into 17 decks, 14 of which are passenger decks. 22 passenger lifts, 9 crew lifts and 6 cargo lifts provide vertical transport between the levels.
The 50 m (164 ft) wide bridge at the bow of the ship is equipped with the latest technology.

Sun terraces and swimming pools provide comfort for the passengers on the topmost level. The 22 lifeboats, each with a capacity of 150 passengers, are also on that level. The ship also carries inflatable lifeboats, which can carry 37 passengers each.
Besides safety equipment, the ship also provides a great many facilities for the comfort and entertainment of passengers. There are dozens of restaurants and bars, as well as a casino, a ballroom, cinemas and a planetarium.
